Annual report 2022

2022 was a year with increased levels of conflict, coupled with energy and food crises. This is predicted to lead to increased poverty levels—exacerbating the dire situation for the poorest, who are usually women.

Moreover, the world had barely recovered from the covid-19 pandemic when Russia initiated its full-scale invasion of Ukraine—an invasion with severe consequences around the world.

We see how women’s rights actors respond quickly in the face of crises. For example, Kvinna till Kvinna was able to swiftly aid women’s rights organisations in Ukraine and Gaza last year through launching our emergency fund.

Environmental and climate justice has also been high on the agenda during 2022. We released two reports covering how climate change increases inequality and how gender justice and climate justice are interconnected in Rwanda and the Middle East and North Africa.
