Kvinna till Kvinna: What we do

Women's rights, advocacy and research

The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation promotes women’s rights in conflict-affected areas. We do so by supporting and cooperating with more than 130 local partner organisations.

Our partners work with gender-based violence prevention, equal participation, economic empowerment and women, peace and security. They are based in the MENA region, Africa, Europe and the South Caucasus.

Kvinna till Kvinna also promotes research and does advocacy work at the national, regional and global level.

Our four focus issues:

  • Preventing and stopping gender-based violence
  • Promoting women’s equal participation in society
  • Strengthening peace, security and women’s participation in peace processes
  • Empowering women economically

Our areas of expertise

Our advocacy work

Advocacy is an important part of our mandate. Together with our partners, we advocate for legislative and policy protection of women’s rights. Where discriminatory attitudes and structures persist, we call for change.

The Gemaket programme

Our Gemaket programme in Sweden allows young women who have newly arrived in the country to meet others who grew up in Sweden. Participants talk about women’s rights, can apply for funding to start a project and receive support from a mentor.
