The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation in the EU
The European Union is a key actor for human rights and gender equality in many of the regions where Kvinna till Kvinna is active. Kvinna till Kvinna and our partner organisations work to ensure that women’s rights and safety remain a priority for EU foreign policy. Since 2022 Kvinna till Kvinna has an office in Brussels, giving us direct access to the EU institutions and being able to amplify the voices from our partners on the ground.
How does Kvinna till Kvinna work within the EU?
Together with partner organisations from Kvinna till Kvinna’s programme countries, we advocate towards the EU, to help ensure that the expertise of women from the countries we work in can help to influence the decisions that the EU takes on those countries. This includes organising regular meetings and visits for partner organisations to Brussels, and coordinating meetings with the EU Delegations in country capitals.
We and our partner organisations:
- Follow EU processes and provide input from a gender equality, women’s rights and peacebuilding perspective
- Track the implementation of various agendas
- Share information about the priorities and needs of local women’s rights organisations
- Advocate for governments in our programme countries to improve legislation
- Monitor how candidate countries meet the EU accession criteria
