New report on shrinking space for women’s rights

This week, Kvinna till Kvinna launched the report “Suffocating the movement – Shrinking space for women’s rights”. The report discusses how increasing nationalism, extremism and traditional values are causing major setbacks for women’s organisations and reducing their ability to work for gender equality and peace.

Through different tactics and methods, both states and non-state actors are limiting activists’ rights to act and express themselves. This is a particularly worring problem because civil society is one of the few arenas where women are given the space to work for change. In other arenas, such as politics, women’s voice often go unheard.
