In Tunisia, our partner organisation Aswat Nissa works to strengthen women politicians through their Political Academy for Women Candidates.

Kvinna till Kvinna supports Aswat Nissa’s Political Academy, which provides training to 15 young women candidates to equip them to run in municipal elections. The women come from different political parties.

The academy provides training on a wide set of skills, from public speaking, campaigning and leadership skills, to gender mainstreaming in public policies. Particular attention is also paid to international women’s rights conventions ratified by Tunisia.

In Tunisia’s municipal elections in May 2018, thirteen graduates of the Political Academy were elected. They came from different social backgrounds and political movements.
