The women who attend their activities often live in a difficult situation, subjected to violence and economically dependent on their abuser.

This was the case for Valida Aliyeva as well when she started attending meetings organised by our partner for women subjected to violence. But the support she found, turned everything around.

“The meetings changed my life. I finally started to believe in myself.”

Valida took a nursing course provided by the organisation. Thanks to this training, she managed to get a job. In 2017, Valida was able to buy an apartment. Today, she can provide for her herself and her three children.

Our partner organisation also runs activist groups in various smaller towns and in areas outside Sumgayit inhabited by internally displaced persons.
